Job summary

1a Upper Brighton Road, Surbiton, Surrey, United Kingdom, KT6 6LQ, is seeking a Deputy Home Manager to help people with learning disabilities and/or autism build a brighter future. You will work 37.5 hours a week, mainly weekdays from 9am to 4:30pm, with some flexibility across 7 days as service needs require.

You will support the Home Manager to lead the team, deliver high-quality care, supervise staff, and coordinate the on-call service.

Qualifications

  • Qualified to NVQ Level 3 or willing to work towards
  • An excellent track record in a senior role within the healthcare sector
  • An understanding of learning disabilities, epilepsy and sensory processing issues
  • A passion for improving clinical quality and care
  • Strong leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Support the Home Manager to lead the team in providing high-quality care and support to people with Learning Disabilities and Autism, while also supporting colleagues and promoting good teamwork.
  • As the Deputy Home Manager, empower the individuals we support and deliver supervision to staff to ensure delivery of great care.
  • Coordinate the on-call service, manage budgets, lead by example, and act as a role model to all members of the team.
  • Assist with the strategic development of the care home in line with Elysium's objectives and business plans.
  • Prepare for contract reviews and represent the organisation in respect of service delivery.
  • Create, maintain and enhance productive working relationships within the home.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and skill mix on duty at any time.
  • Plan, implement and monitor the Person Centred Approach to care within the home.

Job description

Working 37.5 hours a week, you will provide support to people who may be living with severe learning disabilities, autism and behaviours that challenge. The service users may also have profound and multiple communication difficulties, sensory impairments and physical health problems.

From facilitating the development of a quality social care service to meeting financial targets to deputising as the service lead, including on call duties, you will be the Home Managers right-hand person, ensuring the smooth running of the service.

With experience from within the care sector as a senior employee, you will assist with the strategic development of the care home, which will see you abide by and work towards Elysium's objectives and business plans.

What you will be doing

You will support the Home Manager to lead the team in providing high-quality care and support to people with Learning Disabilities and Autism, while also supporting your colleagues and promoting good teamwork.

As the Deputy Home Manager, you will empower the individuals we support and deliver supervision to staff in order to ensure the delivery of great care. Working alongside the Manager to co-ordinate the on-call service, manage budgets, leading by example and acting as a role model to all members of the team, you will help create a positive learning environment making a real difference and changing lives for the better. Other duties include:

  • Supporting the Registered Manager to prepare for contract reviews and represent the organisation in respect of service delivery.
  • Supporting the Registered Manager to create, maintain and enhance productive working relationships within the home.
  • Ensuring the appropriate number and skill mix of staff on duty at any given time subject to company protocol and the needs of the service users.
  • Planning, implementing and monitoring the Person Centred Approach to care within the home.

Working 37.5 hours per week, mainly weekdays, 9am to 4:30pm , but would expect some flexibility across 7 days depending on the needs of the service at the time.

1a Upper Brighton Road provides a specialist residential service for adults of all gender identities who have a learning disability, or who are autistic, and have behaviours which, due to their diagnosis may be of concern/distress. Residents may also have profound and multiple communication difficulties, sensory impairments and physical health problems.

The aim of the service is to encourage individuals to lead a full and purposeful life, enabling them to live more independently in the heart of the community. This is achieved through a programme of active community engagement, that promotes meaningful social networks and the development of bespoke coping strategies.

This also supports developing further independence and social skills, including participating in meal preparation, learning about safety measures both in their environment and out in the community.
