Job description

Are you a strategic people leader with a passion for developing talent, shaping culture, and creating an exceptional colleague experience? Join Elysium Healthcare as a Head of Learning, Culture & Engagement to lead and deliver a progressive people agenda that supports our colleagues, strengthens our culture, and enables outstanding care.

This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving our organisation-wide approach to learning and development, culture, engagement, diversity, equity and inclusion, and wellbeing. Working closely with the Executive Team and senior leaders, you will ensure these key people priorities are aligned to the People Strategy and business objectives, delivering measurable outcomes that enhance colleague experience and organisational performance.

As Head of Learning, Culture & Engagement, you will lead the development and delivery of Elysium's Learning & Development strategy, creating innovative and scalable programmes that support colleagues at every stage of their career. From induction and professional development through to leadership and management programmes, you will ensure our workforce has the skills, knowledge, and capability required to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality care.

You will also provide strategic leadership for our Culture & Engagement agenda, overseeing colleague listening initiatives, employee forums, engagement activities, and feedback mechanisms that strengthen colleague voice and drive meaningful action. Using insight and data, you will identify opportunities to enhance engagement, morale, and retention while fostering a culture where colleagues feel valued, supported, and empowered.

A key aspect of the role will be leading Elysium's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Wellbeing strategies. You will champion an inclusive culture where everyone can thrive, support our colleague networks, and drive initiatives that improve representation, belonging, and equality across the organisation. In addition, you will develop and deliver a market-leading wellbeing programme that promotes positive physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing for all colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:
Learning, leadership development and capability building
  • Develop and deliver an enterprise-wide L&D strategy aligned to the People Strategy, organisational priorities, regulatory, mandatory requirements and operational needs. The L&D Strategy includes key strategic areas of learning and development, such as Mandatory learning, LMS and Apprenticeships.
  • Oversee governance across all areas of learning, development and professional development.
  • Overall responsibility for needs analysis, induction, mandatory training, management development and continued professional development.
  • Work with operational leaders, senior teams and People team colleagues to translate capability needs into practical, accessible and cost-effective learning solutions.
  • Proactive plan to develop leadership capability across the organisation, including creation of a Leadership Academy offering to ensure leaders are equipped.
  • Proactive allocation of L&D budget to ensure mandatory skills needs are met and continued professional development is offered to employees, whilst delivering maximum return on investment.
Culture, engagement and employee listening
  • Own the employee listening strategy, including employee forums, engagement surveys, pulse checks and feedback channels.
  • Ensure colleague voice is translated into visible action that improves morale, engagement, retention and colleague experience.
  • Lead culture and organisational development activity that strengthens belonging, trust, leadership effectiveness and alignment with Elysium's values.
  • Provide expert insights to the Executive Management team and operational leaders to inform actions to improve employee experience.
Diversity, equity, inclusion and wellbeing
  • Lead DEI and wellbeing activity that supports inclusion, belonging, psychological safety and colleague wellbeing across Elysium.
  • Ensure DEI and wellbeing priorities are evidence-led, measurable and embedded through practical interventions, communications and leadership engagement.
  • Use insight to identify barriers, monitor progress and demonstrate improvement in inclusion, wellbeing and colleague experience.
Insight, governance and Executive/Board reporting
  • Use workforce, learning, engagement, employee voice and wellbeing data to identify priorities, shape action plans and evaluate impact.
  • Provide clear Executive and Board-level reporting on learning, capability, culture, engagement, DEI and wellbeing priorities.
  • Maintain effective governance, assurance and risk oversight across the portfolio, highlighting progress, risks and required action.
Team leadership, budget management and supplier partnerships
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing specialist team, creating clarity, accountability and strong collaboration across the People Team and wider organisation.
