Whalebone Golf Club in Romford, Essex, invites an experienced Deputy Head Greenkeeper to lead the maintenance of an 18-hole course and surrounding facilities. This full-time role offers a key position in Essex’s premier golfing destination, with focus on presentation and playability.

The ideal candidate will hold an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, plus spraying and chainsaw certificates, with strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent required.
• PA1/PA2/PA6 spraying certificates desirable.
• Spraying and chainsaw qualifications desirable.
• Experience leading a greenkeeping team.
• Strong communication with members and staff.
• Full driving license essential.
• Flexibility to work weekends.

Whalebone Golf Club in Romford, Essex comprises an 18 hole golf course, 25 bay Toptracer driving range, 18 hole Adventure Golf facility, 18 hole Footgolf course, American Golf retail store and golf simulator room.

We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and dedicated full time Deputy Head Greenkeeper to join the team in the maintenance and development of our 18 hole course and surrounding grounds / golf facilities. The ideal applicant will possess the following attributes and qualifications:

• Minimum NVQ Level 2
• PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates desirable
• Spraying and chainsaw qualifications desirable
• Motivate and lead a team in the absence of the Head Greenkeeper
• Assist in the training of a team of greenkeepers to perform their duties efficiently and effectively.
• Lead and supervise the greenkeeping team in the day to day set up of the golf course and other tasks.
• To plan and implement weekly work schedules, ensuring that scheduled work is carried out effectively.
• Have a good understanding of current Health and safety in the workplace.
• Flexible and able to work at weekends on a rota basis
• A strong work ethic and ability to demonstrate they can work as part of a team and as an individual
• Full driving license
• Excellent interpersonal skills, and an ability to communicate with members as well as colleagues
• Self-motivated
• Strong time management skills
• Desire to continue to improve own knowledge and skill base.
