Job summary

Wentworth Club is seeking an Assistant Greenkeeper to maintain the highest greenkeeping standards across the year at this prestigious private golf and country club. You will lead by example and help drive best practices across the team, with a focus on safe, efficient operation of greenkeeping machinery.

The role is full-time (40 hours per week) with paid overtime; the club offers benefits and professional development opportunities, including BIGGA membership.

Qualifications

• Passion for golf course maintenance and desire to learn and develop in the field.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team.
• Physical stamina for strenuous outdoor work in varying weather.
• Basic knowledge of golf and etiquette desirable.
• Awareness of modern greenkeeping practices and new developments.
• Competence in operating greenkeeping machinery and maintenance practices.
• Minimum 3 years greenkeeping experience or 1 year with NVQ Level 2 in greenkeeping (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Play an active part as a crew member.
• Lead by example and encourage best practices to the team.
• Operate and maintain greenkeeping machinery safely and effectively, reporting issues as needed.
• Report breakdowns and advise Head Greenkeeper on requirements to run the site to a high standard.
• Ensure all areas are laid out and presented to club members and visitors to a very high standard.

Job description

Wentworth Club is one of the world’s finest private members Golf and Country Clubs, famous for its outstanding three Championship golf courses, in addition to a luxury Tennis & Health Club. The Club is surrounded and entwined within the Wentworth Estate, one of the most prestigious private estates in the London suburbs where many of the world’s premier golfers have their home.

We’re now looking to add to our team of Assistant Greenkeepers to maintain the highest greenkeeping standards throughout the year. To be an example to the trainees in the team and lead by example and encouraging these standards of greenkeeping across the rest of the department.

Full-time 40 hours per week, salary plus paid overtime and BIGGA Membership.

Key Accountabilities:

• Play an active part as a crew member.
• To lead by example and encourage best working practices to the rest of the team.
• You will be expected to have some knowledge of the plant machinery used for specific tasks and ensure that they are utilised in the correct manner to comply with the Health and Safety regulations whilst in operation and washed down, greased, oiled and stored after operation.
• To report breakdowns and advise your Head Greenkeeper of requirements to run the site effectively to an expected high standard.
• To ensure all areas are properly laid out and prepared for members and visitors to the Club. A very high standard of presentation is required at all times.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Passion for golf course maintenance and a desire to learn and develop in the field.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Physical stamina and the ability to perform strenuous outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Basic knowledge of golf and an understanding of golf course etiquette is desirable.
• Be aware of modern greenkeeping practices, and alert to new developments with-in the industry
• To be competent in the operation of greenkeeping machinery and maintenance practices
• Minimum 3 years greenkeeping experience or 1 year experience with NVQ level 2 in greenkeeping (or equivalent)
