Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, a leading regional hospital service, seeks an experienced Deputy Chief Pharmacist for Medicines Optimisation to lead governance, safety, and cost-improvement programmes across a large Trust.

You will shape strategic direction on medicines use, work with senior clinicians, and drive transformation, digital initiatives, and service improvements while maintaining high standards of patient safety and professional practice.

Qualifications

• Leadership at senior level within Pharmacy or healthcare setting.
• Expertise in medicines governance, safety, and cost-improvement
• Experience in driving medicines optimisation and assurance across a large organisation

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for medicines governance, medicines safety, CIP and assurance activities across the Trust.
• Lead and shape the Trust's medicines optimisation strategy in line with policy and best practice.
• Act as senior adviser on medicines legislation, risk management and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee governance portfolios including controlled drugs, homecare, procurement, unlicensed medicines and PGDs.
• Chair and support governance groups such as pharmacy quality and medicines safety forums.
• Lead quality improvement and service development programmes to improve patient outcomes.
• Develop strong relationships with clinicians, executives, and external partners to inform decision making.
• Deputise for the Chief Pharmacist as required.
