Job summary

DPD UK is hiring an experienced Shift Manager at our Birmingham Depot to strengthen the depot operations management team. The role involves close collaboration with Owner Drivers and Employed Drivers to keep the fleet engaged, motivated and delivering outstanding service.

You will drive depot targets for core routes and SPR, set routes, ensure drivers load and scan vehicles safely, and maintain clear communication to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• Experience in a fast-paced operation with demonstrable people management experience.
• Ability to motivate and lead a high-performing team in a transport setting.
• Strong communication skills to inspire and manage a team.
• Decisive and effective decision-making and problem-resolution abilities.
• Excellent time management and resilience with flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Ensure depot targets for Core Routes are achieved.
• Achieve targets for Stops Per Route (SPR).
• Set and manage delivery and collection routes and resources.
• Ensure drivers scan and load vans safely and efficiently.
• Maintain ongoing communication with drivers to resolve issues.
• Arrange ad-hoc collections via driver pool or couriers/agencies.
• Ensure documentation and systems meet requirements.
• Establish KPIs for Service, Cost, Productivity, Transport, and Health & Safety.
• Achieve Depot Clear in line with targets.
