Job summary

Biffa Waste Services in Wokingham is seeking an Operations Manager to lead the depot’s recycling, waste collection and street cleansing operations. You will manage supervisors, ensure safety, customer service and KPI delivery, and drive continuous improvement within contract requirements.

You will develop client relationships, support training, monitor budgets and reports, and ensure compliant operations with safety rules and company procedures.

Qualifications

• Proven health and safety management experience in a unionised environment.
• Track record of delivering service delivery KPIs.
• Experience managing vehicles and fleets.
• Experience driving continuous improvement in operations.
• Ability to produce and analyse reports using MS Office.
• Knowledge of environmental responsibilities and health & safety legislation.
• Able to handle conflict and reach constructive outcomes.
• Analytical mindset with ability to measure data and take corrective action.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all Health and Safety, policies and legal obligations are understood and followed by staff; review training records.
• Develop and maintain relationships with client and customers; attend meetings and deliver contract reports on time.
• Work with Senior Business Manager to meet financial targets including overtime, staffing and revenue.
• Support staff training and ensure proper induction and up-to-date job descriptions.
• Supervise operation and depot performance; address poor behaviours in line with policies.
• Review waste collections and street cleansing to continuously improve efficiency and financial performance.
• Ensure safe operation of work equipment and maintenance regimes; train staff accordingly.
• Maintain records and KPI reports and respond to information requests.
