Job summary

Biffa is seeking a Depot Manager in Atherstone to take overall responsibility for day-to-day operations at the transfer station and packaged goods transport. You will lead a team of 10, drive safety, compliance and continuous improvement while delivering strong customer service and financial performance.

You will report to the Regional General Manager and shape a positive safety culture, develop your team and ensure the depot achieves environmental, operational and commercial targets.

Qualifications

• Experience managing an operational team within hazardous waste transfer or physical-chemical treatment environment.
• A degree in Chemistry, related science or Engineering, plus IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of hazardous waste legislation and ISO standards.
• Proven leadership, coaching and team development in busy operations.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with ability to manage competing priorities.
• Experience with risk assessments, method statements, incident investigations and performance management; good IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of 10, fostering safety, engagement and continuous improvement.
• Own health, safety and environmental performance, ensuring compliance with legislation and standards.
• Drive operational excellence with right people, plant and processes for service delivery.
• Manage customer requirements, site capacity, bookings and resources to meet OTIF targets.
• Oversee depot financials, costs, budgets and P&L, identifying profitability opportunities.
• Monitor KPIs and implement improvements to meet targets.
• Collaborate with regional/national teams to optimise costs and develop service solutions.
• Support new projects and ensure readiness for future requirements.
