Job summary

Highland Fuels Ltd is seeking an experienced Depot Supervisor to manage day-to-day depot operations, ensure compliance, and support efficient planning. You will liaise with drivers, service providers, and internal teams to resolve issues quickly and maintain smooth running of the depot.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong planning skills, and experience in transport or fleet operations. An HGV licence is desirable; the position is on-site with a Tuesday–Saturday shift pattern and a

Qualifications

• Experience in transport, logistics, fleet or depot operations.
• Good understanding of vehicle and depot compliance.
• Strong planning and organisational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to build positive working relationships with drivers and stakeholders.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Confident using operational data to prepare reports.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct structured debriefs with returning drivers.
• Identify and record vehicle defects before vehicles are parked.
• Review failed or delayed deliveries and plan follow-up actions.
• Ensure paperwork and compliance checks are completed on shift.
• Feed information into next day’s planning and re-route as needed.
• Perform daily depot, yard and vehicle checks.
• Deliver toolbox talks to drivers and issue routes.
• Use CODAS and other systems to support planning and re-routing.
• Complete depot audits and gate checks; record defects.
• Maintain breakdown log and driver performance reports.
• Coordinate tyre inspections and external operator support.
• Provide holiday cover for Day Supervisor and Depot Manager.
