Job description

Job Opportunity: Delivery Lead – Order Management System Implementation

Location: Hybrid/Remote (with on-site collaboration as needed)

Contract: Flexible engagement (initial 2–3 days/week ramping to full-time during delivery phases)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Delivery Lead to oversee the implementation of a new Order Management System (OMS) as part of a broader digital transformation program. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in modernising core operations and enhancing the customer experience for a dynamic organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the technical delivery of the OMS, ensuring smooth implementation within the IT department and alignment with the company's digital transformation agenda.
  2. Manage both in-house technical teams and external partners to ensure seamless integration with the existing ERP system.
  3. Collaborate closely with stakeholders across the business to align technical deliverables with business objectives, ensuring proper coordination across workstreams.
  4. Oversee the discovery phase by analysing requirements, validating solution feasibility, and developing an initial design roadmap.
  5. Implement and optimise OMS features such as stock availability prompts, delivery options, order prioritisation, and automation of payment triggers.
  6. Work with external implementation partners to tailor OMS solutions to fit the company's unique rental and hire processes.
  7. Support future initiatives, including integration with a transport management system, pricing optimisation, and modular scalability.
  8. Maintain a flexible approach to accommodate shifts in strategy, such as changes to the physical estate or customer engagement channels.

Key Requirements

  1. Proven Expertise: Demonstrated experience delivering Order Management Systems from inception, especially in complex, high-volume environments with specific needs such as rentals and returns.
  2. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of ERP integration (preferably Dynamics 365 F&O), OMS customisation, and modular project delivery methodologies.
  3. Stakeholder Management: Excellent collaboration skills to bridge IT and business teams, manage external partners, and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  4. Adaptability: Ability to manage varying project demands, from full-time involvement during discovery phases to flexible advisory support in other stages.
  5. Change Leadership: Skilled at navigating cultural resistance and driving adoption of new systems across an organisation.

Additional Information

  1. Contract Timeline: The initial discovery phase is expected to begin in Q1 2024, with up to 30 hours per week required. The role will evolve into a more advisory capacity before ramping back up during key delivery phases.
  2. Duration: This is a multi-year engagement in line with the company's long-term transformation plan.
  3. Growth Potential: The role has scope to expand into broader program management or technical leadership as the project evolves.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a critical transformation initiative for a company focused on modernising its core systems and improving customer experiences. If you are a driven, adaptable leader with a strong track record in OMS delivery, we would love to hear from you.
