Job summary

Babcock International is seeking an experienced Vehicle Mechanic in the UK to service and repair a range of military and civilian vehicles at on-site workshops. You will diagnose, repair and maintain vehicles, ensuring safety and compliance with standards.

The role offers a 37-hour week, a nine-day fortnight with every other Friday off, on-site gym access, supplied tools, and opportunities for overtime and career development within a defence-focused engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Vehicle Mechanic, Automotive Technician or Mechanical Technician
• Experience diagnosing, inspecting and assessing vehicle faults
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance, servicing and repair practices
• The ability to complete vehicle documentation and test certification accurately
• A commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement
• A willingness to learn and develop new technical skills

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, repair and maintain military and civilian vehicles
• Conduct inspections and assess vehicle condition and performance
• Carry out mechanical, electrical and hydraulic fault-finding activities
• Complete testing, road testing and vehicle certification documentation
• Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to required standards
• Support modification, upgrade and refurbishment programmes
• Contribute to maintaining fleet availability for critical defence operations

Education

NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair

City & Guilds Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Technology

BTEC Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Technology

Class 1 REME Vehicle Mechanic qualification
