Job summary

Amentum, a global engineering and delivery partner, seeks an experienced IT architect to bridge business needs and technical solutions for UK defence projects. You will define IT architectures, designs, and blueprints ensuring security, scalability, and alignment with client goals.

You will own and communicate architectural outcomes across the full lifecycle, mentoring teams and guiding project delivery in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to architect solutions to complex challenges.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills; able to influence at all levels.
• Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate within high-performing teams.
• Experience owning solution architecture and delivering outcomes across the full systems engineering lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Defining IT architecture: analyse requirements, identify solutions, and create IT architecture blueprints aligned to strategy.
• Designing and developing IT systems: translate blueprints into software, network, and data management components.
• Overseeing system performance: monitor, identify bottlenecks, implement optimisations for scalability and resilience.
• Enhancing security and compliance: implement security controls and standards; stay abreast of threats.
• Communicating technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders; provide project updates.
