Job summary

Electus Recruitment Solutions is seeking a hands-on Test Engineer to own complex electronics fault diagnosis within a defence manufacturing setting. The role is predominantly site-based in the Greater Manchester area, with 4-5 days on site per week and close collaboration across test, production and engineering activities.

You will diagnose faults on analogue and digital PCBs, use scopes and meters, document findings, and work with manufacturing and design teams to improve yield and test

Qualifications

• Experience diagnosing faults on analogue and digital PCBs.
• Strong understanding of electrical/electronic measurement and testing.
• Ability to interpret schematics and engineering drawings.
• Experience documenting fault investigations and actions.

Responsibilities

• Carry out fault diagnosis on analogue and digital PCB assemblies down to component level.
• Investigate manufacturing test failures and identify root causes.
• Use test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators) to probe faults.
• Support yield improvements with engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Produce technical reports detailing investigations and recommendations.
• Contribute to test facility development with clear specifications and instructions.
• Maintain configuration control across test docs and specs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, process and design teams.
