Job summary

Envisage Recruitment Limited is seeking a hands-on Design Engineer in the Coventry area to translate engineering requirements into accurate 3D CAD models and detailed drawings for manufacture and assembly.

You'll work across Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain to take concepts through to production, focusing on tolerances, materials and cost-effective fabrication, while embracing PLM workflows and AI-enabled design tools to improve outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical engineering experience.
• Experience producing 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings.
• Experience using a professional CAD package.
• Good understanding of tolerances and manufacturability.
• Experience working with assemblies, components and BoMs.
• Practical understanding of fabrication, sheet-metal bending and/or machining processes.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret engineering requirements, drawings and manufacturing information.
• Ability to work collaboratively across Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain.
• Full UK Security Clearance (SC), or eligibility to obtain it through the formal UKSV process.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings and assembly designs for manufacturability.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain to take designs from concept to production.
• Manage CAD data, BoMs and drawing packs through PLM systems; Creo and Windchill preferred.
• Contribute to design reviews, prototyping, testing and design improvements.
• Apply AI tools to improve design outcomes where appropriate.
