Job summary

Firstport is seeking a Debt Controller to join our team in a hybrid role based in England. You will manage arrears, chase payments and provide excellent customer service while coordinating with internal departments to resolve debt issues.

You will work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with duties including responding to solicitor queries, handling Housing Association and landlord/developer accounts, and maintaining accuracy in debt records and service level compliance.

Qualifications

• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and take ownership to resolve issues.
• Passion for improving service levels and supporting change and continuous improvement.
• Fully IT literate and confident with MS Office, able to work across multiple systems.

Responsibilities

• Credit control in accordance with Debt Collection procedure for all England & Wales managed properties.
• Respond to solicitor queries and provide documents to assist in arrears recovery.
• Recover Housing Association debt and landlord/developer voids.
• Coordinate with internal departments to resolve customer queries to avoid delays in settlement of debts.
• Ensure all customer communications are timely and aligned with service level agreements.
• General debt control administration and recording actions.

Job Role: Debt Controller

Location: Hybrid role -Free Parking, 10-15 minute walk from New Milton Train Station

Hours: 35 hours per week - Monday to Friday

As a Debt Controller you will contribute to our vision of being the UKs favourite property manager by:

• Ensuring the timely arrears chasing of customer debt through first class customer service, whilst maintaining strong communications with internal departments.

The Debt Controller reports into the Debt Control Team Leader

About You

• As you are able to work collaboratively with a team and department, you are also able to take ownership of issues and see through to resolution.
• You are passionate about improving levels of service, and keen to support change and continuous improvement.
• Being fully IT literate and confident with MS Office, means you also have the ability to work on multiple different systems simultaneously.

Main Responsibilities

• Credit control in accordance with Debt Collection procedure for all England & Wales managed properties
• Responding to solicitor queries and providing any requested documents to assist in the recovery of arrears
• Recovery of all Housing Association Debt
• Recovery of all Landlord/Developer voids
• Working with internal departments to assist with customer queries to ensure there is no block to settlement of all debts.
• All customer communications are responded to appropriately and in line with service level agreements.
• General administration tasks required for debt control functions and recording actions
