Job summary

Citizens Advice Swindon is seeking a Debt Adviser / Caseworker to provide specialist debt advice to individuals and families in Swindon. You will guide clients through options such as Breathing Space, DROs, Bankruptcy and repayment plans, and help identify unclaimed entitlements and hardship funds.

Applicants should have experience in FCA-regulated debt advice or related welfare advice, with strong communication, empathy and negotiation skills, and the ability to manage a varied caseload in

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialist debt advice across debt issues and guide clients through options like Breathing Space, DROs, Bankruptcy, and repayment plans.
• Identify unclaimed entitlements, utility grants, and hardship funds.
• Challenge unlawful creditor behaviour and negotiate affordable repayments.
• Act as a DRO Intermediary (training provided).
• Maintain precise records under FCA/AQS standards and highlight systemic issues for campaign work.
