Citizens Advice Swindon seeks a Debt Adviser / Caseworker to help residents in financial hardship. You will deliver specialist debt advice, support with options such as Breathing Space, DROs, Bankruptcy, and repayment plans, and work directly with clients to regain control of their finances in a compassionate, non-judgmental way.

This role offers a 37-hour week with flexible hybrid working after establishment.

Formación

• Experience in FCA-regulated debt advice or broader social welfare advice.
• Strong communication, empathy, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and support clients in distress.

Responsabilidades

• Provide specialist debt advice, guiding clients through Breathing Space, DROs, bankruptcy and repayment plans.
• Identify unclaimed entitlements, utility grants and hardship funds to maximise income.
• Advocate for clients, challenge unlawful creditor behaviour and negotiate affordable repayments.
• Act as a DRO intermediary (training provided).
• Maintain records to FCA/AQS standards and flag systemic issues for campaigns.

As a Debt Adviser / Caseworker, you will work directly with individuals and families in Swindon to help them understand their options, find the right solution, and regain control of their finances.

What You'll Be Doing

• Specialist Advice:Deliver advice across all debt issues, guiding clients through options like Breathing Space, DROs, Bankruptcy, and repayment plans.


• Income Maximisation: Identify unclaimed entitlements, utility grants, and hardship funds.


• Advocacy: Challenge unlawful creditor behaviour and negotiate affordable repayments.


• Act as a DRO Intermediary (training provided).


• Quality & Policy: Maintain precise records under FCA/AQS standards and highlight systemic issues for campaign work.

What We're Looking For

• Experience in FCA-regulated debt advice or broader social welfare advice.

What We Offer

• Salary: £28,500 – £32,000 (Trainee: £26,000).


• Hours: 37 hours/week (flexible hybrid working available once established).


• Leave: 36 days (25 annual + bank holidays + 3 Christmas days).
