The Role

Deal Advisory Tax provides market-leading services to both Corporate and Financial investors. Our teams focus on four key markets: Corporates, Private Equity & Credit, Real Estate, and Energy & Infrastructure. We are a national, connected team, working and learning with each other.

  • Corporates: We work with FTSE 100 and 250 companies, supporting strategic acquisitions, carve-outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures in the UK and cross-border. Our clients span sectors like Consumer, Life Sciences, TMT, Industrials, ENR, and Banking & Insurance.
  • Asset Management: We collaborate with Private Equity, Infrastructure, Renewable/Energy transition, and Real Estate Funds, as well as institutional investors such as Sovereign Wealth Funds and Pension Funds, with UK, European, and Global investment strategies.

Our Deal Advisory Tax team offers services across the deal spectrum, including buy-side due diligence, structuring, sell-side vendor assistance, refinancing, and listings. Deal sizes range from £10m to over £10bn, serving diverse clients and transactions.

We assist clients in understanding and quantifying historical tax issues, structuring transactions, modeling tax considerations, and reflecting advice in legal documents, always aiming to maximize value throughout the investment cycle. Our work often involves multiple countries, taxes, and work streams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Partners and Directors on complex transactions to deliver exceptional advice.
  • Support in pursuing new opportunities, proposals, and pitches.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships within Deal Advisory.
  • Serve as a key KPMG contact for clients, legal advisers, and other teams.
  • Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and pursue continuous learning.
  • Prepare and oversee detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues.
  • Analyze tax-related documents/data, identify key issues, and communicate their commercial impact.
  • Work with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically analyzing their input.
  • Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments.
  • Understand financial models from a tax perspective.
  • Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership.

The Person

  • Qualified CTA, ACA/CA, or equivalent.
  • Ambitious, enthusiastic, with a keen interest in transactions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Solid UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters.
  • Analytical, curious, and commercially minded.
  • Excellent project management skills, team player, and proactive.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Leadership skills to develop and coach colleagues.
