The Role

KPMG’s Energy and Natural Resources (“ENR”) tax practice covers Oil and Gas, Mining, Power and Utilities (including renewables) and Chemicals. As our clients are facing unprecedented change with the energy transition and fiscal uncertainty, our ENR tax and legal practice is growing significantly.

Our clients include some of the largest global ENR companies, both UK headquartered and inbound groups. Our work encompasses deal advisory support, international tax, and domestic tax advice. A successful candidate will have opportunities to work across these areas.

Our Deal Advisory Tax services include advising on the entire deal spectrum, from vendor assistance, refinancing, and due diligence to buy-side structuring. We help clients understand historical tax issues and structure transactions, focusing on maximizing value throughout the investment cycle. Our work often involves multiple countries, taxes, and teams, collaborating across the KPMG network.

In tax advisory, we support clients with business and fiscal changes, including new jurisdiction entry, development of new business areas, reorganizations, refinancing, leasing, windfall taxes, and global fiscal changes like BEPS 2.0 Pillar 2.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Partners and Directors on complex engagements to deliver high-quality advice
  • Support in business development, proposals, and pitches
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Act as a primary KPMG contact for clients, legal advisers, and internal teams
  • Coach and develop colleagues, foster collaboration, and pursue continuous learning
  • Prepare and review detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues
  • Analyze tax documents/data, identify key issues, and communicate their commercial impact
  • Work with UK and overseas tax specialists, providing critical analysis
  • Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments
  • Understand financial models from a tax perspective
  • Contribute to thought leadership initiatives

The Person

  • Qualified CTA or ACA/CA or equivalent
  • Enthusiastic with a strong interest in transactions
  • Experience in the ENR sector is a plus, but candidates with a strong interest and willingness to learn will be considered
  • Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Solid UK corporate tax knowledge
  • Strong analytical skills, curious, and problem-solving oriented
  • Team player with good workload management
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint

We support flexible working arrangements and aim to help you balance home and work demands. During recruitment, we can connect you with colleagues who work flexibly to share their experiences.
