Job summary

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Royston SG8 is seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef to join the team. The ideal candidate will have prior cooking experience and will ensure all food is prepared, presented, and served to high standards. A valid DBS is required.

Working hours are 7am to 3pm/3.30pm, Monday to Friday, with shifts including weekends if needed. Training and development opportunities are available in a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a chef or a lead cook.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact positively with customers and colleagues.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations (training will be provided if necessary).
• Good communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of meals, including basic cooking tasks, assembling sandwiches, salads, and other menu items according to established recipes and standards.
• Perform cooking duties as required, ensuring that food is cooked to the correct temperature, taste, and presentation standards.
• Support the kitchen team by assisting with food prep, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring all cooking utensils and equipment are properly sanitized and stored.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and service areas, including washing dishes, cleaning work surfaces, and disposing of waste appropriately.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food hygiene standards, to ensure a safe environment for both staff and customers.
