Job summary

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Royston is seeking a dedicated Chef to join our busy kitchen. You will prepare, present, and serve meals to the highest standards, following established recipes and food safety rules. A valid DBS is required.

Working hours are 7am to 3pm/3:30pm, Monday to Friday, with weekend/holiday flexibility as needed. You will be part of a supportive team and have access to training and development opportunities to enhance your skills.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef to join our team in Royston SG8 . The ideal candidate will have prior experience in cooking and as a Chef , ensuring that all food is prepared, presented, and served to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of meals, including basic cooking tasks, assembling sandwiches, salads, and other menu items according to established recipes and standards.
• Cooking: Perform cooking duties as required, ensuring that food is cooked to the correct temperature, taste, and presentation standards.
• Kitchen Assistance: Support the kitchen team by assisting with food prep, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring all cooking utensils and equipment are properly sanitized and stored.
• Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and service areas, including washing dishes, cleaning work surfaces, and disposing of waste appropriately.
• Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food hygiene standards, to ensure a safe environment for both staff and customers.

Qualifications and Skills

• Previous experience as a chef or a lead cook
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact positively with customers and colleagues.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations (training will be provided if necessary).
• Good communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
• Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays if required.
