Job summary

Bob & Berts Kendal is seeking an experienced Cook or Kitchen Assistant for daytime hours, 22-30 hours per week. Daytime shifts, including weekends and early mornings. Join a friendly cafe team, cook fresh breakfast and lunch, and have a say in seasonal menus.

You’ll work in a practical, hands-on role, focusing on quality ingredients, food safety, and a smooth service. There are opportunities to develop skills and contribute ideas in a supportive, creative workplace with evenings free.

Qualifications

• Experience as a chef or cook in a café, bistro or fast-paced kitchen.
• Good organisation, communication and teamwork.
• Understanding of food hygiene and allergens; a Food Hygiene Certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook fresh breakfast and lunch dishes to a high standard.
• Shape seasonal menus using fresh, local ingredients.
• Keep service organised, efficient and calm during busy periods.
• Monitor stock, support ordering and reduce food waste.
• Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene and allergen standards.
• Work closely with front-of-house to deliver a smooth, friendly customer experience.
