Job summary

Bob and Berts Kendal is seeking an experienced chef or cook for daytime hours in a friendly cafe environment. You’ll cook fresh breakfast and lunch, work with local ingredients and help shape menus, with weekends and early mornings included.

Qualifications

• Experience as chef or cook in a café, bistro or fast-paced kitchen.

• Food hygiene knowledge; a certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook breakfast and lunch dishes to a high standard.
• Shape seasonal menus using local ingredients.
• Keep service organised and calm during busy periods.
• Monitor stock, assist ordering and reduce waste.

Bob and Berts Kendal -Full-time 35 hours- Daytime shifts, including weekends and early mornings

The role

You’ll be part of a supportive team serving fresh, consistent food that customers look forward to. This is a practical, hands-on role where you can use quality local ingredients, contribute ideas, and help keep the kitchen organised and running smoothly. What you’ll do

• Prepare and cook fresh breakfast and lunch dishes to a consistently high standard.
• Help shape seasonal menus using fresh, local ingredients.
• Keep service organised, efficient and calm during busy periods.
• Monitor stock, support ordering and reduce food waste.
• Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene and allergen standards.
• Work closely with the front‑of‑house team to deliver a smooth, friendly customer experience.

What we’re looking for

• Experience as a chef or cook in a café, bistro or other fast‑paced kitchen.
• Confidence preparing quality food quickly, cleanly and consistently.
• Good organisation, communication and teamwork.
• An understanding of food hygiene and allergens; a Food Hygiene Certificate is preferred.
• The right to work in the UK.
