Job summary

Northern is seeking a Day Shift Train Cleaner at Leeds Train Station to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming trains during daytime operations. You’ll join a supportive team and perform on-train and depot cleaning tasks, ensuring hygienic environments between services.

Qualifications

• Prior cleaning experience (commercial, industrial, or domestic).
• Able to work outdoors/onboard trains in all weather conditions.
• Pass a safety-critical medical, including drugs and alcohol screening; colour vision normal.

Responsibilities

• Clean train interiors thoroughly to high hygiene standards.
• Manage quick-turnaround cleans during active service to keep trains on time.
• Remove litter, empty bins, and restock onboard facilities during shift.
• Handle spillages safely following health and safety procedures.
• Collaborate with depot and operations colleagues to maintain turnaround efficiency.
• Keep depot work areas, equipment, and supplies well-organised.
