Job summary

Biffa is seeking a Day Shift Fitter for Poplars AD Plant in Cannock. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance across the site, diagnose faults quickly and implement effective repairs, and support equipment improvements to keep the plant running safely and efficiently.

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the role offers a 37.5-hour week (Mon–Fri, 08:00–16:00) with a competitive salary and pension. Suitable candidates will have a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background and

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a Mechanical or Electrical Fitter role.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience in fast-paced process, manufacturing, waste, water or industrial environment.
• Understanding of planned preventative maintenance principles.
• Ability to prioritise and respond effectively to breakdowns.
• Relevant Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned and reactive maintenance across the plant.
• Diagnose faults quickly and carry out effective repairs.
• Support installation work and equipment improvements.
• Drive plant reliability, uptime and continuous improvement.
• Work closely with operations teams to minimise downtime.
• Coordinate specialist maintenance activities with contractors.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Support preventative maintenance programmes and root cause analysis.
