Job summary

Biffa Waste Services' Poplars AD Plant in Cannock is seeking a skilled Shift Fitter to join the team. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will perform planned and reactive maintenance to keep the anaerobic digestion facility safe, efficient and reliable.

The role requires at least 2 years in a mechanical or electrical fitter position, fault-finding and diagnostic skills, and experience in a fast-paced industrial environment. It offers a competitive salary, 42-hour week and various benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a Mechanical or Electrical Fitter role.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience in a fast-paced process, manufacturing, waste, water or industrial environment.
• Understanding of planned preventative maintenance principles.
• Relevant Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned and reactive maintenance across the plant.
• Diagnose faults quickly and carry out effective repairs.
• Support installation work and equipment improvements.
• Drive plant reliability, uptime and continuous improvement.
• Work closely with operations teams to minimise downtime.
• Coordinate specialist maintenance activities with contractors.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Support preventative maintenance programmes and root cause analysis.

Salary: £40,560.00 per annum
Hours: Average 42 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 4 Days On, 4 Days Off, 4 Nights On, 4 Days Off
Day Shifts: 07:00 - 19:00 Night Shifts: 19:00 - 07:00
Shift Allowance: 10% additional payment for night shifts worked between 19:00 and 07:00
Cover Shifts: Plus paid 26 cover shifts per year

Our essential requirements

• Ability to prioritise and respond effectively to breakdowns.
• Relevant Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification preferred.
