Job summary

Biffa Waste Services is seeking a Day Shift Fitter for the Poplars AD Plant in Cannock. The role reports to the Shift Supervisor and focuses on proactive maintenance to keep the anaerobic digestion facility running safely, efficiently and reliably.

The position involves planned and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and collaboration with operations to minimise downtime, with a 37.5-hour week and dayshift.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a Mechanical or Electrical Fitter role.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience in a fast-paced process/manufacturing/environment.
• Understanding of planned preventative maintenance principles.
• Ability to prioritise and respond to breakdowns.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned and reactive maintenance across the plant.
• Diagnose faults quickly and carry out effective repairs.
• Support installation work and equipment improvements.
• Drive plant reliability, uptime and continuous improvement.
• Work closely with operations teams to minimise downtime.
• Coordinate specialist maintenance activities with contractors.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Support preventative maintenance programmes and root cause analysis.
