Job summary

James Lewis Recruitment is seeking a HGV Technician / Mechanic / Fitter to join the day shift at the Blaydon workshop. You will carry out planned maintenance, servicing and diagnostics on trucks and trailers, and perform mechanical and electrical repairs as needed.

This is a permanent role with a 7:00am–4:30pm schedule, occasional Saturdays at time and a half. Salary is £50,000–£55,000 OTE, with training and development opportunities alongside a long-established commercial vehicle dealership

Qualifications

• Time-served HGV Technician or equivalent (City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 preferred).
• Proven experience repairing and maintaining trucks and components.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Own tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned maintenance and servicing on trucks and trailers.
• Fast and accurate diagnostics and fault finding using diagnostic tools.
• Mechanical and electrical repairs, working independently.
• Vehicle inspections and compliance checks (MOT, tacho, etc.).
• Final checks on completed work.

Shift: Days - Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 4:30pm, plus every other Saturday at time and a half

• Mechanical and electrical repairs, working independently.
• Vehicle inspections and compliance checks (MOT, tacho, etc.).
• Final checks on completed work.

HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter Qualifications and Requirements:

• Time-served HGV Technician or equivalent (City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 preferred)
• Proven experience repairing and maintaining trucks and components
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Own tools preferred
• Valid driving licence
