Job summary

The University of Salford is seeking an experienced Data Protection Officer & Information Governance Manager to lead the information governance framework and serve as the designated DPO. You will provide expert guidance on data protection, freedom of information, subject access, and regulatory compliance across the university.

Working within the Legal Services team, you will collaborate with colleagues across academic and professional services, support senior leaders and external partners,

Qualifications

• Significant senior experience in data protection and information governance.
• Experience advising senior stakeholders and interpreting complex legislation.
• Ability to translate requirements into practical solutions.
• Professional qualification in data protection would be advantageous.
• Experience in higher education or the public sector preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as the University's designated Data Protection Officer and principal contact for the ICO.
• Lead and develop information governance framework, policies, procedures and guidance.
• Ensure compliance with data protection, FOI and environmental information legislation.
• Manage DPIAs, data breaches, complaints and regulatory enquiries.
• Lead, support and develop Information Governance Officer colleagues and promote a culture of good information governance.
