We’re now looking for a Data Privacy Compliance Manager to lead and support data privacy and compliance efforts across the Guardian Media Group, ensuring strong GDPR practices and an effective privacy programme.

About the Role

As a key member of the Data Protection and Privacy team, you will support the Director of Data Protection and Privacy (GNM DPO) in managing and enhancing the Group’s privacy compliance programme. This includes:

  1. Supporting GDPR initiatives through privacy evaluations, risk assessments, DPIAs, and maintenance of RoPA documentation.
  2. Engaging with the Data Subject Rights process and assisting other privacy and compliance workstreams.
  3. Delivering training, awareness campaigns, and monitoring plans.
  4. Supporting the coordination and delivery of privacy communications, policies, and internal reporting.
  5. Responding to data-related queries, subject access requests, and incident handling.
  6. Managing vendor compliance and working closely with technical teams to ensure website legal compliance.
About You

We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in data privacy and a passion for upholding the highest compliance standards. You’ll bring:

  1. Demonstrable experience in a data privacy or data compliance roles (ideally 3 to 5 years experience)
  2. Experience of maintaining accountability frameworks, including RoPA documentation and reporting.
  3. Understanding applicable data privacy legislation and experience of applying this in a digital organisation.
  4. Knowledge of data protection laws, regulations, and policies including the DPA, GDPR, PECR, and ideally CCPA and the Australian Privacy Act.
  5. Relevant data protection qualifications, such as CIPP/E, CIPM.
  6. Law qualification or equivalent.
  7. Experience using tools like OneTrust, Data Guidance, and Google/Microsoft platforms.
  8. Strong stakeholder engagement and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a proactive mindset.
