Job summary

The Citation Group is building out its data and AI capabilities and seeks a Data Migration Engineer to move data safely across systems as we modernise our platform landscape.

You’ll work on live migrations (CRM, billing, platform) and focus on logic, validation, and automation to prevent issues after import. The role requires curiosity about how systems work under the hood and ability to design for edge cases.

Qualifications

• Experience leading data discovery and profiling at the start of migrations.
• Ability to build source-to-target data mappings with system logic and constraints.
• Familiarity with validating post-migration results and rollback strategies.
• Experience with live migrations between CRM, billing, and platform systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead structured data discovery and profiling at the start of every migration — surface quality, completeness, integrity issues and remediation effort.
• Build detailed source-to-target data mappings grounded in understanding of both systems — logic, constraints, and assumptions.
• Identify where source and target behave differently during discovery and design for it.
• Build and maintain the ETL/ELT pipelines that move data between systems, including edge-case transformations.
• Own reconciliation and validation between source and target post-migration, tracing root causes.
• Document migration logic, mapping decisions, and system quirks for future use.
• Work with data owners to drive cleanup of quality issues ahead of cutover.
• Support cutover planning and execution, including rollback considerations.
