Job summary

Randstad Digital UK is seeking a senior Data Migration Specialist to drive an end-to-end data migration project in Sheffield on a hands-on 6-month contract. You will own discovery, mapping, transformation, execution and post-migration validation, navigating complex data models and governance needs.

The role requires 8–10+ years in enterprise data migrations, expertise in SQL, Azure Data Lake/Lakehouse, and experience with Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years of delivering complex enterprise data migration and data engineering projects.
• Mastery of SQL, including complex joins, performance tuning and reconciliation.
• Experience with Azure Data Lake / Lakehouse architectures and cloud migrations.
• Experience across Strategy, Discovery, Cleansing, Mapping, Execution and Post-migration Validation.
• Hands-on with Azure DevOps, Git and modern CI/CD deployment practices.
• Strong data modeling, metadata management and data lineage expertise.
• Experience migrating legacy systems to Azure or Microsoft Fabric.
• Background in Financial Services, Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC).
• Familiar with data governance in regulated environments and relevant certifications.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end data migration lifecycle from discovery, inventory and mapping to transformation.
• Execute, validate and reconcile migrations, ensuring clean, fully validated results.
• Navigate complex data models, metadata and large relational structures for migration.
• Lead migrations to modern cloud environments (Azure / Microsoft Fabric) in a hands-on capacity.
• Collaborate with GRC and compliance teams in a highly regulated setting.

The Role

In this hands-on 6-month contract, you will own the end-to-end data migration lifecycle—from initial discovery, inventory, and data mapping to complex transformation, execution, and final reconciliation. You will navigate complex data models, metadata, and large-scale relational structures, ensuring clean, fully validated, and seamless migration to modern cloud environments.

• 8-10+ years of dedicated experience delivering complex enterprise data migration and data engineering projects.
• Mastery of SQL (complex joins, performance tuning, advanced analytical queries, and reconciliation).

• Proven experience across all migration phases: Strategy, Discovery, Cleansing, Mapping, Execution, and Post-migration Validation.
