Job summary

BT Group is seeking a Data Governance Lead to define and implement governance frameworks across the business. You will ensure data compliance with GDPR and related regulations, while aligning data management with strategic objectives.

You will lead a team, partner with data owners, and drive transformation initiatives to improve data quality, security, and accessibility in a complex enterprise environment.

Qualifications

• Familiar with Data Governance frameworks (e.g. DAMA).
• Knowledge of data compliance regulations (GDPR/CCPA/EU AI Act).
• Knowledge of data models, lineage and enterprise data platforms.
• Ability to document and visualise data lineage from source to consumption.

Responsibilities

• Lead and implement BT Group data governance frameworks, policies and standards.
• Define, monitor and manage governance processes for compliance.
• Ensure data compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
• Improve data accessibility while maintaining security and compliance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to secure buy-in for governance initiatives.
• Act as conduit between central governance and delivery units.
• Mentor and coach a high-performing governance team.
• Shape the Data transformation program and own the Customer Data Handling Obligation.
• Translate technical data issues into business-relevant language.
