Job summary

Hargreaves Lansdown is seeking an experienced data engineering leader to drive delivery of scalable data pipelines and platform components from Bristol head office. This hands-on leadership role requires setting engineering standards, coaching engineers, and ensuring auditable, secure operations within a regulated financial services environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data engineering or software engineering
• 2–3+ years in people management
• Experience delivering production data platforms at scale
• Experience in regulated financial services environments

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of data engineers and set clear expectations for delivery quality and ownership
• Own end-to-end engineering delivery against the data product roadmap
• Run production operations including monitoring, incident response and learning from incidents
• Define and enforce engineering standards across the team (coding conventions, testing, CI/CD, reviews)
• Own cost and performance of data infrastructure and optimise resource utilisation
• Manage technical debt and maintain a visible backlog
• Collaborate with Data Product Managers and Principal Data Modeller on standards
• Ensure regulatory, security, and governance requirements are met, auditable and recoverable
