Job summary

Engineers Gate is seeking a Data Engineer to join the Core Technology Team in London to build and scale the firm’s data platform used by investment teams. You will turn data requirements into datasets, tools, and platform capabilities, handling the full data lifecycle from sourcing to delivery.

You will work closely with portfolio managers and researchers, learn from experienced engineers, and have the opportunity to contribute ideas and implement them in practice on impactful projects from day

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a STEM field.
• 1–2 years of professional experience in software or data engineering.
• Programming experience in Python.
• Familiarity with data pipelines/ETL tools, relational databases, and/or SQL.

Responsibilities

• Take data projects from initial requirements through to delivery, coordinating with portfolio managers and researchers.
• Investigate structured and unstructured financial datasets, assess coverage and limitations, and build robust processing workflows.
• Develop and improve infrastructure that makes data available across the firm.
• Build reusable tools for data analysis and quality checks for future datasets.
