Primus Connect is seeking an experienced Lead/Principal Data Engineer to shape a modern data platform. You'll lead a talented engineering team through an Azure Databricks Lakehouse transformation, influencing technical direction and delivering scalable data products.

As Data Engineering Manager, you'll balance people management, technical guidance, and delivery excellence, partnering with Product, Architecture and regional data teams to drive outcome‑focused delivery and measurable business

Are you an experienced Lead/Principal Data Engineer looking for the opportunity to shape the future of a modern data platform?

We're looking for a Data Engineering Manager to lead a talented engineering team through an exciting transformation from a traditional SQL data warehouse to a modern Azure Databricks Lakehouse architecture. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact, influence technical direction, and help build a data platform that supports innovation across a large, international organisation.

You'll join a growing Technology function and lead a high performing team of Data Engineers, working closely with Product Managers, Architects, Infrastructure, Service teams, and regional data partners to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-quality data products.

This is a strategic leadership role where you'll balance people management, technical guidance, and delivery excellence while helping shape the future of the organisation's data capabilities.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead, mentor and develop a high performing Data Engineering team, creating a culture of trust, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Drive the delivery of valuable, high quality data products through iterative, outcome focused delivery.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience leading and developing high performing Data Engineering teams.
• Strong background delivering data products within modern data platforms, including SQL Data Warehouses and Azure Databricks Lakehouse.
• Experience managing engineering delivery and driving measurable business outcomes.
• Strong understanding of modern data engineering principles, platform reliability and engineering best practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
• A collaborative leadership style that combines empathy with high standards.
• A passion for delivering value through continuous improvement and iterative delivery.
