Job summary

Broaden in Bristol is seeking an Underwriting Portfolio Analyst to own portfolio performance, run underwriting models, evaluate claims, and identify trends to inform underwriting decisions and pricing strategy.

Reporting to the Head of Underwriting, you will translate complex data into actionable commercial narratives and collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, claims, and operations teams to align insights with business goals. Strong Excel and BI skills are essential; SQL/Python are desirable.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in insurance portfolio analytics, underwriting, pricing, or actuarial analysis.
• We are also open to high-potential, more junior candidates with strong analytical capability and a fast learning trajectory.
• Solid grasp of specialty insurance, delegated authority, or MGA program metrics.

Responsibilities

• Monitor product and distribution partner performance using key metrics (loss ratios, frequency, severity, premium development, profitability).
• Maintain, run, and refine underwriting and pricing models to support portfolio management and rate monitoring.
• Analyze claims experience across lines and channels to identify emerging risks and opportunities.
• Translate data into clear commercial narratives and provide actionable recommendations to senior leadership on underwriting actions and pricing adjustments.
• Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, claims, and operations teams to align insights with broader commercial goals.
