Job summary

Simply Business in London is seeking an Underwriting Analyst to drive data‑driven decision making and shape underwriting strategy for a fast‑growing, tech‑led business. You will work with capacity providers, finance and data engineering to influence performance, lead reserving and profit‑share calculations, and deliver direct commercial impact across the organization.

You will modernise underwriting technology with data engineers and mentor junior talent, presenting trends to senior leadership

Qualifications

• Experienced in insurance data analytics with a solid understanding of underwriting metrics.
• Able to translate complex data into actionable business insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• Self-motivated and collaborative, with ability to coach junior colleagues and build strategic relationships across teams.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate insurance product metrics to uncover underlying trends in claims and sales performance.
• Design and maintain accurate self‑service data tools so the MGA team can access critical insights easily.
• Prepare and deliver comprehensive monthly management information and performance reports to external capacity providers.
• Calculate reserving requirements and profit share metrics in close collaboration with finance teams.
• Partner with data engineering to ensure incoming data streams are accurate, timely, and fit for purpose.
• Translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations while coaching and developing junior colleagues.
