Gemini Recruitment is partnering with a leading Legal 500 firm in Manchester to recruit a Data Claims Caseworker/Paralegal for a permanent position. The role focuses on onboarding new clients, obtaining evidence, and supporting the Claims Against Public Authorities team.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year in a caseworker role, with an interest in UK GDPR, data protection, and privacy rights, and strong organisational and drafting skills. Hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of Caseworker/Paralegal experience in a law firm or litigation environment.
  • Experience with Data Claims work is preferable or an interest in data protection and privacy rights.

Responsibilities

  • Onboard new clients and obtain evidence ahead of case opening.
  • Create files and prepare documentation for client onboarding.
  • Assist with casework support from other lawyers in the department.
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Manage time recording and file administration.
  • Support business development and marketing initiatives where required.
  • Undertake other duties as directed by Management.

Job description

Role: Data Claims Caseworker / Paralegal - Manchester

A leading Legal 500 firm is seeking a dedicated and experienced Caseworker / Paralegal to join its Claims Against Public Authorities team on a permanent basis.

Gemini Recruitment is currently partnering with a large and well-established law firm that serves both corporate entities and private individuals across more than 25 practice areas, with offices throughout London and across England and Wales. The firm is recognised and recommended by The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners as a top-tier practice.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the New Client Diary and case set-up/onboarding as well as assistant casework support to the other lawyers in the department. You will be involved with speaking/communicating with new clients and, as part of that role, will be expected to obtain all relevant evidence from them ahead of case opening.

The successful candidate will preferably have prior experience with Data Claims work or at least an interest in data protection, privacy rights as well as unlawful processing/disclosure/retention/misuse of personal data.

Main Responsibilities of the Role:
  • Reporting directly to the Departmental Director
  • Communicating/liaising with new and existing clients by taking initial instructions and obtaining evidence in support of their claims.
  • Creating files and preparing all necessary documentation for client onboarding.
  • Assisting with casework support from other lawyers in the department.
  • Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring compliance with the firm's quality and regulatory standards.
  • Managing time recording and file administration effectively.
  • Supporting departmental business development and marketing initiatives where required.
  • Undertaking any other reasonable duties as directed by Management.
Key Skills Required:
  • Minimum one-year of Caseworker Paralegal experience within a law firm/litigation environment.
  • Experience with Data Claims work is preferable.
  • Interest in dealing with claims involving the UK GDPR 2018, Data Protection Act 2018, privacy rights and misuse of private information is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Strong analytical and drafting skills.
  • Excellent communication and client care skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong administration and file management skills.
  • Experience handling client enquiries, maintaining accurate records and preparing/managing documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Experience using case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
