About the Role
An international technology and connectivity organisation is seeking an experienced Data Centre Supervisor to support the delivery and day-to-day operation of IT infrastructure services within a high-performance Data Centre environment.
Working closely with the Data Centre Manager, Service Delivery Manager, client stakeholders, engineering teams and third-party suppliers, you will be responsible for supervising Moves, Adds & Changes (MAC) and Business-as-Usual (BAU) activities, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with client requirements and agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Data Centre professional with a strong background in structured cabling, infrastructure operations and team supervision to take responsibility for the successful delivery of operational services within a critical client environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day Data Centre operations, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and to agreed client standards.
- Deliver and oversee Moves, Adds & Changes (MAC) and BAU activities across Data Centre and campus environments.
- Coordinate installations, decommissioning, equipment movements, racking, stacking and structured cabling activities.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with approved Data Centre processes and procedures.
- Support the successful operation and maintenance of Data Centre infrastructure.
- Monitor operational activities and identify potential risks, issues and service improvements.
- Ensure Data Centre standards and security procedures are consistently maintained.
Project & Work Delivery
- Support the planning, scheduling and execution of Data Centre works to meet client requirements.
- Allocate daily workloads and coordinate engineering resources to ensure activities are completed within agreed timescales.
- Supervise installation, testing, fault-finding and decommissioning activities.
- Support infrastructure projects from planning and implementation through to completion and handover.
- Ensure all changes are completed in accordance with approved change control procedures.
- Monitor progress against agreed deadlines and elevate delays or operational risks where required.
- Support the successful delivery of project and service-related activities.
Technical Coordination
- Supervise structured cabling activities across Data Centre environments.
- Coordinate copper and fibre installation, patching, testing and fault-finding activities.
- Work closely with internal engineering teams, clients, facilities providers and third-party vendors.
- Manage and supervise third-party contractors working within the Data Centre.
- Ensure vendor activities comply with site procedures, health & safety requirements and client standards.
- Coordinate technical activities with relevant stakeholders to minimise operational disruption.
- Support first-line technical troubleshooting and escalate complex issues to the appropriate technical teams.
Service Delivery & SLA Management
- Monitor service requests and operational activities to ensure agreed SLAs are achieved.
- Ensure work tickets are accurately updated and closed within required timescales.
- Support incident management and escalation processes.
- Identify service delivery risks and communicate issues proactively to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate operational records, reports and documentation.
- Participate in operational and client meetings as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of Data Centre service delivery processes.
Quality, Health & Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all Data Centre activities comply with Health & Safety requirements.
- Maintain compliance with client procedures, quality standards and operational controls.
- Ensure all engineering activities are completed safely and professionally.
- Support compliance with Data Centre security procedures and access controls.
- Ensure contractors and third-party suppliers follow approved site processes.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship across installation, cabling and equipment handling activities.
- Support audits, inspections and operational reviews where required.
Asset & Documentation Management
- Maintain accurate records of Data Centre assets, equipment and infrastructure.
- Ensure asset movements, installations and decommissioning activities are correctly recorded.
- Maintain accurate cabling records, inventories and Data Centre documentation.
- Update service management and ticketing systems as required.
- Ensure relevant technical documentation is maintained throughout the project and operational lifecycle.
- Support asset tracking and reconciliation activities.
- Identify discrepancies and ensure records are corrected promptly.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Build effective working relationships with clients, internal teams and third-party suppliers.
- Act as a key operational contact for day-to-day Data Centre activities.
- Provide regular updates on work progress, incidents, risks and operational issues.
- Participate in client meetings and operational reviews.
- Coordinate activities with facilities and infrastructure providers.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with stakeholders at all levels.
- Support the delivery of a consistently high level of client service.
- Identify opportunities to improve Data Centre processes, operational efficiency and service delivery.
- Contribute to Data Centre-related service improvement projects.
- Support the development and implementation of improved working practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve asset management, documentation and operational controls.
- Share technical knowledge and best practice across the engineering team.
- Support continuous improvement of client and internal service delivery processes.

Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience working within a Data Centre environment.
- Extensive experience in structured cabling installation, testing and fault finding.
- Strong knowledge of copper and fibre cabling standards and Data Centre infrastructure.
- Previous experience supervising engineering activities and allocating workloads.
- Experience managing or supervising third-party contractors and vendors.
- Proven understanding of asset management and Data Centre documentation.
- Experience using ticketing, service management or work-order systems.
- Understanding of change control, incident management and service delivery processes.
- Strong organisational, prioritization and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work within a highly controlled and operationally critical environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to operational issues.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and standard service delivery applications.
- Ability to maintain high standards of Health & Safety, quality and security.
- Previous experience in a similar Data Centre supervisory or senior engineering role.
- Previous experience within banking, financial services or large enterprise Data Centre environments.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Network+, CCNA or ITIL.
- Data Centre or cabling certifications such as BICSI, CDCTP or CDCMP.
- Experience using DCIM tools and Data Centre infrastructure management systems.
- Experience using ServiceNow, Remedy or similar service management platforms.
- Knowledge of server infrastructure and networking concepts.
- Experience supervising major Data Centre infrastructure projects.
- Experience working with complex inter-rack and room-level cable infrastructure.
- Experience coordinating facilities providers and Data Centre infrastructure teams.
- Experience with server installation, racking, stacking and basic hardware support.
Qualifications & Certifications
Preferred
- Relevant technical qualification in IT, Data Centre Infrastructure, Networking, Telecommunications or a related discipline.
- BICSI, CDCTP, CDCMP or equivalent Data Centre/cabling certification.
- ITIL certification or equivalent service management qualification.
- CompTIA Server+, Network+ or equivalent technical certification.
- CCNA or equivalent networking qualification.
- Health & Safety training relevant to Data Centre or technical environments.
- Additional training in structured cabling, fibre optics or Data Centre operations.
