Job summary

RG Setsquare in Harlow is seeking a Data Centre Shift Leader to manage a technical M&E shift team and ensure service delivery to SLAs. You will supervise shift staff, coordinate training plans, and act as a point of contact for the client’s facility operations.

You will oversee electrical switching, permit to work, and change control processes, while maintaining H&S compliance and high standards of professional conduct within the data centre environment.

Qualifications

  • HVAP qualification or equivalent is essential.
  • City & Guilds Electrical Competency Part 1 & 2 or equivalent.
  • Experience with CMMS and BMS systems.
  • Good working knowledge of electrical switching and Change Control.

Responsibilities

  • Manage holiday, sickness cover and HR issues including appraisals of shift staff.
  • Plan and manage workload on shift to complete PPMs/CMs and reactive work orders within SLA.
  • Act as authorised person for control of work and permit to work system.
  • Lead shift training using scenarios and site drawings; operate critical plant where authorised.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety processes and company procedures.
  • Provide weekly workload and performance reporting using Real Suite.

Data Centre Shift Leader - Harlow

My client is the global leader in real estate services and leverages the industry's most powerful knowledge base to meet the commercial real estate needs of its clients worldwide.

Role Summary & Responsibilities
  • Management of holiday, sickness cover requirements and HR issues including completion of appraisals of shift staff
  • Work with management to ensure training plans are in place and implemented
  • Maintain the image, appearance and professional standing of the technical team at all times
  • Supervision of technical M&E shift team and senior technical representative out of hours.
  • Act as point of contact for technical service delivery
  • Plan and manage workload on shift; scheduling works based on priorities to ensure completion of PPM's / CM's and reactive work orders within defined SLA's; highlight any concerns to TSM
  • Ensure high degree of communication at shift handover via verbal handover period, shift log book, email and status board
  • Liaison with other FM Workplace Solutions service providers to provide an integrated service. Provide timely customer feedback verbally face to face, email or calling card
  • Act as Authorised Person for control of work
  • Permit to Work System
  • Carry out electrical switching operations on systems within Change Control Process and authorisation limits to agreed switching programmes
  • Lead in shift training by scenarios and lessons learnt; knowledge from O&Ms I site drawings. Operate critical plant where authorised
  • Ensure compliance to client and health and safety processes and procedures at all times for all work carried out by staff and sub-contractors
  • Carry out toolbox talks, workplace assessments and audits at required frequencies supporting TSM as required
  • Adherence to business processes and procedures with correct financial approvals.
  • Ensure appropriate budgetary control is exercised on all spend (parts, tools, instruments, training, PPE)
  • Provide a weekly performance report on workload status using maintenance management system (Real Suite)
  • Submit monthly status to TSM as contribution to the client monthly report to include any problem areas
Experience & Skills Required
Essential
  • HVAP
  • City & Guilds Electrical Competency Parts 1 & 2 or equivalent
  • Good building services knowledge
  • Critical Environment Experience
  • Good Customer relationship skills
  • Working knowledge of "Permit to work" systems
  • Understand and interpret technical drawings / processes
  • Experience of CMMS and BMS systems
Desirable
  • Time served electrical apprenticeship
  • Experience of working in Data Centres
  • HV switching qualification/experience
  • 18th Edition IEE Regulations
  • Experience of Microsoft Office applications
  • ACoPs L8
