Qualifications

  • Experience in a critical or data centre environment is essential.
  • Ability to act as an Authorised Person (AP) within six months of onboarding.
  • Understanding of permit-to-work systems and health & safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out PPM, reactive, and ad-hoc maintenance to meet SLAs.
  • Maintain accurate work logs and records using the CMMS system.
  • Support the preparation of quotations and coordination of technical works.

About the Role

Trevett Services are seeking an experienced Data Centre Shift Technician to join a leading data centre engineering team in Farnborough. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and supporting critical site operations — ensuring reliability, uptime, and compliance across all mechanical and electrical services.

This hands‑on position involves delivering planned preventative maintenance, reactive tasks, and minor installations, while supporting subcontractor control and ensuring technical excellence in a fast‑paced, high‑availability environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out PPM, reactive, and ad‑hoc maintenance tasks to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Maintain accurate work logs and records using the CMMS system.
  • Qualify and act as an Authorised Person (AP) within six months of onboarding.
  • Perform isolations and reinstatements on electrical, gas, fire alarm, and sprinkler systems when authorised.
  • Issue and manage permits to work for access, maintenance, and project activities.
  • Ensure all contractors and site personnel comply with safety and security policies.
  • Participate in ongoing critical systems training programmes.
  • Operate as part of a collaborative shift team, providing cover for holidays, sickness, and training absences.
  • Complete critical services maintenance, environmental monitoring, and plant condition assessments.
  • Produce and maintain incident reports, handover notes, and infrastructure documentation.
  • Oversee and review the work quality of specialist subcontractors, implementing any recommended actions.
  • Support the preparation of quotations, sourcing of materials, and coordination of technical works.
  • Ensure all activities adhere to site SLA and Data Centre operational procedures.
Requirements
  • City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Plumbing discipline.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671) qualification.
  • Water Regulations & Unvented Hot Water Systems (C&G3345)
  • Level 3 legionella Awareness
  • Disinfection of water supply systems in buildings (WS3)
  • Thermostatic mixing valves (WS13)
  • Water supply (water fittings) regulations (WREG)
  • Previous experience working within a critical or data centre environment.
  • Knowledge of UPS systems, BMS operation, standby generators, and electrical testing.
  • Strong understanding of permit-to-work systems and H&S regulations.
  • Competence in reading technical drawings and understanding power provisioning, PDU’s, and environmental monitoring.
