Job summary

CBW Staffing Solutions Ltd is seeking a Data Centre Operations Manager for a high-profile data centre in Central London. You will lead engineers and technicians, coordinating electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems to maximise uptime and reliability.

You will oversee safety, vendor contracts, and vendor performance while collaborating with facilities, IT, and security teams to ensure optimal data centre operations and scalability.

Qualifications

• Electrical engineering qualification or equivalent.
• Experience leading technical teams in data centre or critical infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of data centre infrastructure including power, cooling, security, and network systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of engineers and technicians, providing guidance and support.
• Plan, schedule, and prioritize maintenance, repairs and upgrades of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with facilities management, IT operations, and security to optimize data centre operations.
• Manage vendor relationships and contracts for equipment procurement and maintenance services.
• Maintain technical documentation within the data centre (SOPs/EOPs/MOPs, safety rules, risk assessments).
• Participate in capacity planning and expansion projects for data centre growth.
• Act as HVAP for the company.
• Be the first point of escalation for incidents or issues.

One of the market leaders in the data centre world is currently looking to recruit a Data Centre Operations Manager to work at a high profile data centre based in Central London.

The role will be working closely with the Head of Operations on site and will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all engineering activities within the data centre, to ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and reliability of critical infrastructure systems.

There will also be an oversight on the cleaning and security but this is managed indirectly via contractors.

The main duties of the role are as follows:

• Lead and supervise a team of engineers and technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure they perform their duties effectively.
• Plan, schedule, and prioritize maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems to minimize downtime and maintain uptime SLAs.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including facilities management, IT operations, and security to address issues and optimize data centre operations.
• Manage vendor relationships and contracts for equipment procurement, maintenance services, and technical support.
• Maintain technical documentation within the data centre including SOPs/EOPs/MOPs, Electrical safety rules and risk assessments.
• Participate in capacity planning and expansion projects to support the growth of the data centre infrastructure.
• Act as a company HVAP.
• Be available as the 1st point of escalation for any incidents or issues.

Applicants for the role must be able to meet the following criteria:

• Qualifications in Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in data centre operations or a similar critical infrastructure environment.
