Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) AIS in the United Kingdom is hiring a Network Technician to deliver hardware, fiber connectivity, and cabling for enterprise-scale data center projects. You’ll work with internal customers and vendors, install and troubleshoot networking gear, and drive delivery using established project practices.

Qualifications

• Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair.
• Experience in networking.
• Experience in managing and troublshooting network, or experience with network troubleshooting tools (telnet, test-netconnection, tracert, tracetcp, iperf, ntttcp, dig, and packet capture tools).
• Ability to specify power and cooling requirements, participate in hardware racking/stacking, and actively contribute to the migration, basic configuration, and rollout of new or upgraded hardware. Be able to move and lift computer equipment up to 50lbs
• Proficient in network cabling, optic types, and test equipment, including VFL, power meter, and OTDR. Familiarity with cabling best practices and methodologies.
• Ability to travel within geographical work area is required, up to 20% travel outside traditional work area may be required possibly including international travel., Experience with virtualization (Hypervisors, VMware, Xen), or experience in networking administration and troubleshooting and experience in software development
• Strong understanding of major Command Line Protocols (Cisco IOS, JunOS, etc.) and common Networking Protocols (BGP, OSPF).
• Proficient in IT best practice frameworks (ITIL, LEAN, AGILE) and operational excellence concepts or methodologies (a plus)

Responsibilities

• Moving and implementing large enterprise equipment
• Installing Fiber and Copper cabling and patching cabling between equipment
• Ensuring proper safety and security standards are maintained during cabling and rack installation
• Following well established hardware installation procedures and break-fix activities
• Safely using material handling tools and equipment
• Traveling within and outside of the regional work area is required.
