Job description

Walker Group provides advanced high-precision manufacturing services from centres of excellence located in the UK and Poland. We are seeking a commercially minded Data Analyst based at our Glasgow site to support our engineering and manufacturing operations across the Group.

The role will focus on extracting, analysing, and transforming MRP and operational data into meaningful insights and intuitive Power BI reports that enable data-driven decision-making.

Working closely with stakeholders across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, and Operations, the Data Analyst will play a key role in improving visibility of performance, identifying trends, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Data Analyst Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Analysis & Insight: Analyse MRP data relating to materials, production, inventory, demand planning, capacity, and lead times
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities within operational and manufacturing data
  • Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders
  • Support root cause analysis for operational issues such as stock shortages, excess inventory, late orders, or production inefficiencies
Reporting & Power BI
  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for departments across the Group
  • Ensure reports are accurate, visually intuitive, and aligned to business KPIs
  • Build automated and self-service reporting solutions where possible
  • Continuously enhance existing reports based on stakeholder feedback and evolving business needs
  • Support the standardisation of core reports and metrics across sites
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work closely with department leads to understand reporting requirements and business challenges
  • Act as a trusted data partner to Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Finance, and Engineering teams
  • Present findings and recommendations clearly to a range of audiences
  • Support stakeholders in understanding and using reports effectively to inform decision-making
Data Governance & Quality
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across reports and dashboards
  • Document data definitions, metrics, and report logic
  • Support improvements in data structures, data flows, and reporting processes
  • Highlight data quality issues and work with system owners to resolve them
Data Analyst Skills & Experience:

Essential

  • Proven experience in a Data Analyst or Business Intelligence role within a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Strong experience working with MRP / ERP data (e.g. materials, BOMs, routings, production orders, inventory)
  • Advanced Power BI skills and data modelling
  • Strong SQL skills for data extraction and transformation
  • Ability to communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail

Desirable

  • Experience with engineering or discrete manufacturing businesses
  • Understanding of supply chain, production planning, and inventory management principles
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets across multiple business units
  • Exposure to continuous improvement or lean manufacturing initiatives
