Job summary

A progressive Pembrokeshire dairy enterprise is seeking a Dairy Herd Manager to lead day-to-day dairy herd operations, welfare and performance. You’ll analyse herd data to drive improvements in milk production, fertility and overall efficiency, while embracing robotic milking and innovative farming practices.

Ideal candidates will have strong herd management experience, a proactive, data-driven mindset and the ability to lead a team, with NVQ2 or equivalent and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

  • Strong practical dairy farming and herd management experience.
  • Excellent livestock welfare knowledge.
  • Experience with calving, fertility and herd health management.
  • Proficient in analysing herd performance data and KPIs.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the dairy herd to high welfare and husbandry standards.
  • Monitor milk production, fertility, herd health and longevity.
  • Oversee calving, youngstock development and colostrum management.
  • Analyse KPIs and trends to identify improvements.
  • Utilise herd data and robotic milking data to support decisions.
  • Support implementation and optimisation of robotic milking tech.
  • Collaborate with vets, nutritionists and external specialists.
  • Lead and develop farm team; promote health and safety.
  • Drive continuous improvement and sustainability.
