Job summary

Farming Partners is seeking a Herd Manager / Second-in-Command (2IC) to join our team on a block-calving, grass-based dairy farm located between Dumfries and Thornhill. You will work closely with the Farm Manager to support day-to-day operations and help us maintain high welfare and productivity standards.

With 400 Friesian/Jersey-cross cows and a commitment to development, this role offers a competitive salary, accommodation, and tailored training.

Qualifications

• Experience in grassland management.
• Experience leading or supervising people.
• Experience with block-calving systems.
• Passion for grass-based dairy farming.

Responsibilities

• Delivering excellent animal health and welfare standards.
• Achieving key farm performance targets.
• Supporting and coordinating the relief team.
• Working with stakeholders and contractors.
• Making decisions around grassland management and grazing performance.
• Helping drive continuous improvement across the farm.
