HRGO Recruitment, on behalf of a well-established waste management and transport business in Sheffield, is seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic to join the fleet maintenance team.

You will service, repair and diagnose a varied fleet of DAF HGVs and commercial vehicles using diagnostic equipment, ensuring roadworthy standards and timely MOT readiness. Monday to Friday 7:00am–5:00pm with Saturday rota, permanent role.

Formación

• Minimum 2 years' HGV mechanical experience.
• Previous experience working on DAF vehicles.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent preferred.
• Driver CPC and HGV Class 1/2 desirable.
• Strong diagnostic fault-finding skills.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.

Responsabilidades

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs across a DAF HGV fleet.
• Work on skip trucks, RO/RO, grab, tippers, artic units and walking floor vehicles.
• Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment and perform running repairs.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and assist with presentation.
• Attend breakdowns and carry out roadside repairs when required.
• Ensure inspections meet Operator Licence requirements.

HRGO Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a well-established waste management and transport business in Sheffield for an experienced HGV Mechanic to join their dedicated fleet maintenance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HGV Mechanic with DAF experience and strong diagnostic skills to join a well-established business with a large and varied commercial vehicle fleet.

With a salary of up to £70,000, a permanent contract and a Monday to Friday working pattern with a Saturday morning rota, this role offers excellent earning potential and long-term stability for the right candidate.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs across a varied fleet of DAF HGVs and commercial vehicles

• Work on skip trucks, roll-on/roll-off vehicles, grab vehicles, tippers, artic units and walking floor vehicles

• Diagnose electrical, mechanical and vehicle faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and running repairs

• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and assist with vehicle presentation

• Attend vehicle breakdowns and carry out roadside repairs when required

• Carry out vehicle inspections in line with Operator Licence requirements

• Replace wheels and complete wheel re-torques

• Identify faults accurately and complete repairs to a high standard

• Complete job cards, inspection sheets and all relevant maintenance paperwork

• Ensure vehicles are maintained to a safe and roadworthy standard

• Work closely with colleagues to ensure the fleet remains operational

• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment

Shifts Available:

Monday - Friday: 7:00am - 5:00pm

Saturday: 7:00am - 12:00pm on a rota

Permanent, Full-Time Position

About You:

• Previous experience working as an HGV Mechanic / HGV Technician

• Minimum 2 years' HGV mechanical experience

• Previous experience working on DAF vehicles

• Strong mechanical and diagnostic fault-finding skills

• Experience carrying out HGV inspections and preventative maintenance

• Confident using vehicle diagnostic equipment and software

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification is preferred

• HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence is desirable

• Driver CPC is desirable

• Strong understanding of commercial vehicle maintenance

• Able to work independently and use your own initiative

• Reliable, organised and safety-conscious

• Good attention to detail and a strong work ethic
