Job summary

Hunters 4 Staff are working with a well-established transport and fleet business in Sheffield seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic with DAF experience. This is a hands‑on role in a solid team, keeping a varied fleet running safely and efficiently.

Based in Sheffield (S3), the role is permanent with a Monday–Friday 7:00am–5:00pm schedule plus a Saturday rota (7:00am–12:00pm). Salary is around £50,000 per year, depending on experience.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years' experience as an HGV Mechanic.
• Experience working with DAF vehicles.
• Confident using diagnostic software and fault-finding tools.
• HGV inspection experience (minimum 1 year).
• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair a mixed fleet including DAF skip trucks, tippers, artic units, grab vehicles, vans.
• Prepare and present vehicles for MOT (S3 Sheffield site).
• Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment and complete effective repairs.
• Complete routine inspections in line with O Licence requirements.
• Attend breakdowns when required.
• Complete paperwork, job cards and support the wider team when needed.
