Job summary

Russell Taylor Group is seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic with strong DAF knowledge to service and repair a varied fleet within a busy waste management operation. You will diagnose faults, perform servicing, and prepare vehicles for MOT, balancing quality workmanship with safety and efficiency.

You should have at least two years’ HGV experience, DAF training or proven DAF experience, solid diagnostic skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications

• At least two years' experience as an HGV Mechanic or Technician.
• DAF training or proven experience maintaining and repairing DAF vehicles.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Practical, reliable and able to work independently and in a team.
• Commitment to safe working practices and high repair standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs across the fleet.
• Use diagnostic equipment to identify faults and complete effective repairs.
• Perform vehicle safety inspections in line with operator licence requirements.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT and present them for testing.
• Complete running repairs and attend breakdowns when required.
• Carry out wheel replacements and re-torques.
• Maintain accurate inspection records, job cards and repair paperwork.
• Work closely with colleagues to prioritise repairs and minimise downtime.
• Maintain a safe, organised working environment and support other areas as needed.

Keep a busy fleet moving

Are you an experienced HGV Mechanic with strong DAF knowledge? Join an established waste management operation where your technical skills will play a key role in keeping a varied fleet safe, reliable and ready for work. You'll work across DAF skip trucks, roll-on/roll-off vehicles, grab trucks, tippers, articulated units, walking-floor trailers and company vans. From routine servicing to diagnostics and breakdown repairs, this is a varied, hands-on role for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship.

What you'll be doing

• Carrying out servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs across the fleet.
